From Excel to a centralised industrial ERP with Odoo
Industrial equipment & manufacturing
A Moroccan industrial SME managed most of its operations in Excel. Starting in 2022, the project progressively brought its main processes into Odoo 13 Community Edition, with adaptations for purchasing, inventory, manufacturing and financial follow-up.
The need: connect information across departments
Sales, purchasing, logistics and administrative teams needed to connect their operations. Separate files made this difficult and required manual processing.
The objective was a shared environment that could support everyday workflows while accommodating the company’s specific operating rules.
Our contribution
Modoo Tech delivered the Odoo scope as a subcontractor: requirements analysis, initial installation, configuration, custom development and training. Initial migration covered customers, suppliers, products and opening inventory.
The main implementation phase is complete. Support and further improvements continued after deployment.
The implemented solution
A commercial, logistical and manufacturing foundation
Sales, purchasing, inventory and invoicing were integrated into the same environment. Warehouse workflows cover receipts, deliveries, transfers and returns. Manufacturing links bills of materials and manufacturing orders to the corresponding inventory movements.
Project and fleet management complete this foundation. Quotations, orders, delivery notes, invoices and receipts were also customised.
Purchasing linked to customer requirements
A custom feature allocates quantities on supplier order lines to customers, with quantity controls and visibility through to receipt. This workflow was tested and validated with the users concerned.
Purchase requests use adapted workflows. An Excel import assistant handles supplier order lines, including product information, quantities, prices, discounts and taxes.
Traceable inventory consumption
Custom machinery management links movements and consumption to a machine, project, department, employee or vehicle. This preserves the operational destination of the resources used.
Warehouse stock exports and pallet labels generated from delivery orders provide additional logistics tools.
Payments, reporting and administration
Payment tracking covers cheques, bills of exchange, due dates and receipts, alongside selected foreign-currency operations. Dashboards present sales activity, invoicing and outstanding payments using ERP data.
The HR and payroll scope includes employees, contracts, departments, payslips and related reports. Training and video materials support users with sales, purchasing, payments and everyday Odoo use.
What changed
| Before | Delivered scope |
|---|---|
| Management mainly in Excel | Main processes brought together in Odoo |
| Information spread across separate files | Commercial, logistical and financial data centralised |
| Business workflows difficult to connect | Manufacturing linked to inventory and purchases allocable to customer needs |
| Reporting prepared in external files | Dashboards and payment tracking available in the ERP |
Progressive adoption and continued improvements
Available functionality does not mean every team uses every workflow. At the June 2026 project review, adoption of the purchasing–receipt–inventory cycle still varied between teams. An additional product import was also awaiting the required source data.
Subsequent improvements covered purchasing, payments, dashboards, documents and inventory. The engagement combines a delivered ERP foundation with continued support for its use.
The Modoo Tech perspective
Centralising management means connecting processes as well as data. This is the approach we advocate: establish a consistent foundation, adapt functionality to concrete needs and support adoption beyond go-live.
