Centralising an agricultural mechanisation company’s operations with Odoo 17 CE
Agricultural services & mechanisation
A Moroccan agricultural services company needed to bring its operations into one system. The project replaced the spreadsheets and manually prepared documents within scope with Odoo 17 Community Edition, adapted to services, machinery and customer projects.
The need: connect sales with field operations
Each service involves equipment, spare parts and consumables. The challenge was to preserve the connection between the customer order, the operational project, the machinery used and the related inventory movements.
Information had previously been spread across spreadsheets and manual documents. The shared system also needed to cover purchasing, invoicing and equipment follow-up.
Scope of the engagement
The consultant’s assigned technical responsibility covered configuration, custom development and data migration, through to user training and support.
The scope brought together commercial management, inventory, invoicing and accounting processes, projects, maintenance, barcode workflows and expenses.
The solution: connected business processes
From order to project
Service sales orders generate or populate the corresponding projects. Commercial information stays connected to execution, without recreating the same tracking process in a separate tool.
Machinery and inventory usage linked to services
Custom functionality represents agricultural equipment and links it to the relevant services and projects. Spare parts and consumables can also be assigned to the customer project, preserving the operational context of each inventory consumption.
Maintenance and barcode-based inventory operations support this workflow.
Data and documents brought into Odoo
Migration covered customers, suppliers, products, services, historical quotations and invoices. Quotations, orders, invoices and delivery documents were customised. Reports and dashboards make the consolidated information available to users.
Training and support helped users adopt the new processes.
What changed
| Before | At project completion |
|---|---|
| Workflows largely tracked in Excel | Processes within scope consolidated in Odoo |
| Sales and operations followed separately | Service orders connected to projects |
| Machinery and inventory usage tracked separately | Equipment, spare parts and consumables assignable to projects |
| Documents prepared manually | Documents generated in Odoo, with commercial history migrated |
The main outcome is continuity between the service sold, its project, the machinery used and related inventory consumption. The delivered scope brings this information into a shared environment, alongside the agreed management functions, training and support.
The Modoo Tech perspective
For a service business using specialised machinery, an ERP’s value lies in connecting operations. This experience illustrates the approach we advocate: start with how the business works and adapt Odoo to keep information consistent from order through invoicing.
